The quote from George Siemens rather romanticises networks. You might as easily say, 'Groups get things done, networks just talk about getting things done.' It would be better to recognise the virtues of both and acknowledge that both have their place.

Hm, Kevin, that is useful. I think our romanticizing is at play here. I think of how we romanticize the word "community" as well. These all contain strengths and weaknesses and to say one is better than the other seems to miss the point that David makes: diverse formations are useful in different settings.
